The first step for prospective new members (excluding AB Weapons License holders) is to report to any Queensland Police station in order to apply for a ‘Statement of Eligibility’ (QP515). This is to ensure that you are of good character without a criminal record. You can access a QP 515 here
Once you have received the ‘Statement of Eligibility’ you need to email the New Members Officer on email@example.com to make a time to to appear in person to the club in order to finalise the process of submitting an application. You will also need to attend a Weapons Safety Course in order to obtain a ‘Statement of Attainment’ for Cat. H Weapons. Legislation also requires that you provide 2 written character references from persons who have known you for at least 2 years and present photographic ID.
Once passed by the committee you will attend an Induction Session (usually held on the first Saturday morning of each month) at which time you will be briefed on range and safety procedures and have the opportunity to try out some of the different pistols available. After 6 months of training and matches you can make application to Queensland Police Weapons Licensing for your Concealable (Category H) license and will be able to apply for your first pistol.
